Italian Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini criticized the way the Moroccan community in Milan celebrated the Atlas Lions victory over Spain in the final price of the World Cup in Qatar.
Salvini posted on his Twitter account a video of a location in the Italian city of Milan where a giant screen was set up to broadcast the meeting that brought Morocco and Spain together last Tuesday.
A large number of fans (most of them Moroccans) gathered to watch the match and celebrated the Moroccan victory by setting off fireworks, causing chaos to engulf the venue.
Il Marocco elimina la Spagna, così “festeggiano” in Milan…
Mi auguro che i responsabili vengano identificati e ripaghino tutti i danni. #MoroccoSpainpic.twitter.com/K5n0MxTtEn– Matteo Salvini (@matteosalvinimi) December 6, 2022
Salvini, who also serves as Minister of Infrastructure and Transportation, commented, writing: “Morocco excludes Spain and so they (celebrate) in Milan. I hope those responsible will be identified and the price will be paid.”
The Moroccan national team achieved a historic achievement by reaching the quarter-finals of the 2022 World Cup by defeating Spain 3-0 on penalties after the match ended in a goalless draw.
