There have been reports of toilet paper disappearing from the shelves of the capital’s supermarkets in Tashkent in Uzbekistan due to lack of gas from manufacturers in the past period due to cold weather.

Some manufacturers are planning to switch to alternative fuels to avoid production problems next winter.

“We stopped production on December 9, 2022, when the cold weather came and the gas was turned off,” said a representative of a toilet paper company in Uzbekistan.

He added: “We don’t know when gas supplies will resume, possibly in February 2023, when gas shortage problems ease.”

A representative of the Elma toilet paper company, the most popular brand in Uzbekistan, said that “Elma facilities were disconnected from gas in early 2023. Supermarkets have run out of paper.”

Earlier, social media pioneers in Uzbekistan complained about the disappearance of toilet paper from store shelves in Tashkent.
