On Sunday, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi will open the sixth session of the Egyptian International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference EGYPS 2023.
The events of the current session will be held from 12 to 15 February under the theme “North Africa and the Mediterranean: Supporting Global Supply and Demand for Sustainable Energy” at the Egyptian International Conference and Exhibition Center in New Cairo.
Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla affirmed that the event, which Egypt organizes and sponsors and honors President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi every year, confirms its strong presence in the regional and international arenas year after year. as it is an Egyptian platform that brings together the leaders of the global energy industry, international oil and gas companies, major international organizations and companies to shed light on new opportunities in Egypt in a way that will improve its direction of growth and development, conclude an expansion of international partnerships and establish a direct dialogue between the Egyptian oil and gas industry and the world’s energy leaders.
Al-Mulla added that the convening of the conference comes at a very important time in the world, in light of the many issues that cast a shadow over the global economy in general and the energy sector in particular, which is at the forefront of the sector affected by the global scene.
It also comes a few months after the Cop27 climate conference, which underpins the completion of efforts to reduce emissions in the oil and gas industry, which Egypt has significantly supported with its initiative to bring industry parties to the climate summit for the first time. in Sharm el-Sheikh “Decarbonization Day”, which was a milestone in the efforts of the oil and gas industry to achieve sustainability and meet its environmental obligations.
The conference and exhibition attracts more than 32,000 participants, more than 2,000 delegates, 41 international oil and gas companies, 500 exhibitors and 260 speakers. The exhibition includes 12 international pavilions, and its sessions exceed 65 discussion sessions.
The conference program includes strategic dialogue sessions in the presence of ministers and heads of major international energy, oil, gas and technology companies. Among the brightest speakers this year are Kadre Simson, Commissioner for Energy and Climate of the European Union Haytham Al-Gais, Secretary General of OPEC, and Amani Abu Zeid, African Union Energy Commissioner.
The agenda also includes a conference on financing and investing in energy, a technical conference, a conference on sustainability in energy, a distribution of sessions on carbon removal and emission reduction, and a conference on equity in the energy sector.
