Turkish state-owned energy company BOTAS said today, Friday, that it will cut the price of natural gas for large industrial consumers in February by 13.3-17.2%.
He added that the price of natural gas used to generate electricity would also fall by 16.7%.
At the end of December, Turkey announced a significant increase in the estimate of natural gas reserves in the Black Sea.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said at the time that the total volume of natural gas discovered by his country in the Black Sea now reaches 710 billion cubic meters after the discovery of a new field and adjusting production from the previous discovery.
Erdogan added that Turkey has discovered new reserves of 58 billion cubic meters at the Shaiguma-1 field, in addition to an upward adjustment in the estimated volume at the Sakarya field to 652 billion cubic meters from the previous 540 billion.
He stated that as a result of data analysis, the country changed what it had previously announced available volumes from 540 billion cubic meters to 652 billion cubic meters, noting that Turkey had drilled 13 wells in the Sakarya field.
