BFMTV, citing data from the French Interior Ministry, reported that the reception of refugees from Ukraine cost France about 500 million euros over the past year.
The channel added: “France has spent more than 490 million euros to receive Ukrainian refugees. This money was spent on organizing 100,000 places for the reception and residence of these refugees in France.”
The department indicated that an “unprecedented plan for receiving” refugees from Ukraine was organized. In particular, 220 million euros were spent on the distribution of the aforementioned refugees, as well as 260 million euros on providing them with housing, as well as 10 million euros on providing them with vehicles. Housing costs include the rent of hotels and vaccination centers, as well as the provision of 30,000 emergency rooms during the peak influx of these refugees in March 2022.
French citizens also received about 30,000 Ukrainians in their homes, and these citizens received assistance from the state for a total of 786,000 euros.
According to the agency, from March 2022 to January 30, 2023, more than 100,000 citizens of Ukraine arrived in France, 80% of whom are women.
