As a result of Ukrainian missile strikes on a hospital in the Lugansk region on Saturday, 14 people were killed and 24 others were injured, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.
The department said that a hospital in Novoaydar was fired from a US Himars-type multiple launch rocket system.
The ministry’s statement came about 10 hours after it was said the attack had taken place. However, the ministry did not share any video or photos of the incident, and the information could not be independently verified.
The hospital provided “essential medical assistance to the local population and military personnel” for many months.
Lugansk region is occupied mainly by Russia.
The ministry accused Ukrainian forces of a “deliberate missile attack” on a civilian hospital, saying it was a “serious war crime committed by the Kyiv regime.” The statement said that the perpetrators will be found and brought to justice.
Russian state television released unverified footage showing the collapsed building. A board showing the opening hours of the clinic was overlaid. There are no people or ambulances in the footage.
Kyiv did not initially respond to the allegations.
