The commander of the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet said on Tuesday that “Iran’s attacks on waterways in the Middle East and other parts of the region are causing everyone’s concern.”
In statements to the Associated Press, Vice Admiral Brad Cooper said he had witnessed an increase in what he called Iran’s “malicious activities” in the region during the two years he spent under the command of the Fifth Fleet stationed in Bahrain.
Cooper stated that “recent arms seizures by US and allied forces in the region have been successful.”
He said: “Iran was able to carry out drone attacks targeting ships in the Middle East and other attacks in the region.”
Cooper added: “We are focused on expanding our partnerships. The short answer is that Iran’s actions are of interest to everyone.”
