US media reported that on Saturday morning a freight train belonging to the South Norfolk Company derailed in Lexington, North Carolina.
A spokesperson for the company told Fox News Digital that residents of the area have nothing to worry about.
The spokesman added: “This morning one of our trains through Lexington derailed. Out of 132 train cars, one derailed.
He confirmed that there were no reports of a dangerous condition or danger to the public.
He stated that the crew was safe and that personnel were on their way to begin cleanup operations.
A freight train derailment in south Norfolk caused several trains to stop.
The derailment came less than a month after a train with 50 cars, 10 of which were carrying vinyl chloride, derailed.
