Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Fatih Donmez said Turkey hopes to launch Russia’s proposed “gas center” project within a year.

The Turkish newspaper Star quoted the minister as saying: “There is no gas trading center in Eastern and Southeastern Europe. The countries of the region with which we are in contact also support this gas center project. I hope we can manage the gas center within one year.”

And earlier, he instructed the presidents of Russia and Turkey to work out the issue of creating a Russian gas center in Turkey, and it is possible that the volumes of gas that were intended for Nord Stream-1, damaged by terrorist explosions, would be pumped through Turkish territory.

Earlier, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak pointed out that it was not only about creating a commercial site in Turkey, but also about developing infrastructure and increasing supplies of natural gas.
