On Monday, the press reported that AC Milan legend Paolo Maldini would leave the Rossoneri after a bitter row with the owner of the Italian club.
According to the Calciomercato website, Maldini, technical director, and Ricky Massara, sports director, attended a stormy meeting with owner Jerry Cardinale to discuss the club’s strategy in preparation for next season.

It all ended after today’s tense meeting with club chairman Jerry Cardinale – because of a different vision for the future of the club.

And he pointed out that things had gone very badly, especially between Maldini and Cardinale, so that the legend of the club was close to leaving.
He added that some reports said that Maldini and Massara had decided to resign, but other reports indicated that it was Cardinale who fired the duo.
Notably, Maldini spent his footballing career at Milan, where he spent 25 seasons in the team’s shirt before retiring at the age of 41 in 2009, and in 2018 joining the club’s management.
