Japan’s Ministry of Health has recommended that medical institutions limit the prescription of cough medicines due to their shortage in the country, despite the increase in the incidence of coronavirus and influenza.

Rising Coronavirus and Flu Infections

NHK reported that coronavirus infections continued to rise for the third week in a row, and flu infections for the fifth week in a row.

Shortage of Essential Medicines

The ministry added that due to the increasing infections, a number of regions in Japan are experiencing a shortage of essential medicines.
