Japan’s Ministry of Health Recommends Limiting Prescription of Cough Medicines
Japan’s Ministry of Health has recommended that medical institutions limit the prescription of cough medicines due to their shortage in the country, despite the increase in the incidence of coronavirus and influenza.
Rising Coronavirus and Flu Infections
NHK reported that coronavirus infections continued to rise for the third week in a row, and flu infections for the fifth week in a row.
Shortage of Essential Medicines
The ministry added that due to the increasing infections, a number of regions in Japan are experiencing a shortage of essential medicines.
Recommendation to Use Medications Effectively
To address the shortage, it is recommended to effectively use the limited number of available medications and reduce the number of days they are taken to the minimum acceptable.
