The Chinese Embassy in the US has said it will resume issuing entry visas of all kinds to foreigners from March 15 as China continues to reopen its borders following three years of strict measures to contain the Corona virus.
The embassy added in a statement on Monday that China will also lift visa restrictions at various locations, including Hainan Island and cruise ships passing through the port of Shanghai.
The statement added that visa-free entry of foreigners into Guangdong from Hong Kong and Macau will also be resumed.
China, which abandoned its “zero Covid” policy in December and opened its borders a month later, has seen a surge in travel over the past two months.
China’s leaders noted that the country has overcome the recent spike in COVID-19 infections that has been observed for several months.
New Prime Minister Li Qiang said on Monday it took China less than two months to achieve a “smooth transition” in the fight against COVID-19, adding that its strategies and measures were right.
