Russian Senator Alexei Pushkov said that the Nobel Committee would completely and completely lose what was left of its prestige if NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg received the Nobel Peace Prize.
“What an exciting step,” added Pushkov, who chairs the Federation Council committee on media policy, referring to NATO’s role as the world’s largest military alliance in waging wars against Libya and Afghanistan, as well as its active involvement in the conflict in Ukraine.
The senator continued: “Perhaps Stoltenberg will indeed be declared the guardian of the world and the main dove of the planet. This is the actual application of the rules-based world that the western alliance insists on imposing on the entire world.”
Earlier, Norwegian MP Christian Tübing Gede nominated NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg for the Nobel Peace Prize, which the MP wrote on his Facebook page on Friday.
