Private sources confirmed to Al-Arabiya Channel that the board of directors of a commercial international bank has decided to appoint Hisham Ezz al-Arab, the bank’s former CEO, as chairman of the board after Sheriff Sami apologized for continuing the position.
Sources indicated that this event will require a general meeting to approve the decision.
On November 22, the Commercial International Bank of Egypt announced the appointment of Hisham Ezz Al-Arab as a non-executive member of the board of directors following the approval of the bank’s board of directors and the Central Bank of Egypt.
This comes after the resignation of Hisham Ezz Al Arab as CEO of the International Commercial Bank of Egypt in October 2020 at the request of the Central Bank of Egypt after 18 years at the bank.
It is noteworthy that Hassan Abdullah, the acting Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt, decided to appoint Hisham Ezz Al-Arab and Muhammad Naguib as his advisers, but Ezz Al-Arab resigned after being appointed a member of the Board of Directors. Hisham Ezz Al Arab has held several senior positions at a number of international banks such as JP Morgan Chase and Deutsche Bank and previously served as CEO and Managing Director of a commercial international bank.
